Jerry Rawls was elected Chairman of the Board in 2006. He has also served as President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors for Finisar Corporation from 1989 to 2008. From 1968 to 1989, he was employed by Raychem Corporation, a materials science and engineering company. At Raychem he held various management positions including Manager of Product Marketing, National Sales Manager, General Manager of the Aerospace Products Division, and General Manager of the Interconnection Systems Division. Mr. Rawls holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and an M.S. in Industrial Administration from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma engineering honorary societies.

Eitan Gertel joined the Finisar Board of Directors in August 2008 and is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of Finisar, effective with the merger between Optium Corporation and Finisar Corporation on August 28, 2008. Prior to that, Mr. Gertel was Chairman and CEO of Optium Corporation after joining in 2001. Mr. Gertel brings a wealth of experience in broadband microwave and fiber optic systems. Prior to Optium, he was Vice President/General Manager of JDS Uniphase's TSD Division from 1995 to 2001 where Mr. Gertel had full P&L responsibility for the sub-system division as it transitioned from start-up status to a multi-hundred-million-dollar operation. Mr. Gertel earned a BSEE from Drexel University

Chris Brown joined Finisar in August 2008. Prior to that, Mr. Brown was General Counsel and Vice President of Business Development for Optium Corporation after joining Optium in 2006. Prior to joining Optium, Mr. Brown was a partner at the law firms of Goodwin Procter LLP and McDermott Will & Emery. Mr. Brown holds a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a J.D. from Boston College Law School.

Mark Colyar joined Finisar in August 2008. Prior to that, Mr. Colyar was Senior Vice President of Engineering and General Manager of Optium U.S. after joining Optium in 2001. Previously, Mr. Colyar was with the TSD Division of JDS Uniphase where he had a variety of leadership roles including CATV Product Line Manager, Director of Sales and Marketing, Vice President of Engineering, and Vice President of Operations. Mr. Colyar has extensive experience in design and project engineering with an emphasis on IR detection systems and broadband fiber-optic systems, initially with Systems Engineering Technology International and then as a Section Head for AEL's Fiber Optic Transmitter group. Mr. Colyar graduated from Drexel with a BSEE.

Todd Swanson joined Finisar in 2002. Throughout his career at Finisar, Mr. Swanson has held a variety of progressive roles, including Product Line Manager, Director of Marketing and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to Finisar, he served in various R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales related roles for Princeton Lightwave, Aegis Semiconductor and Hewlett Packard's OptoElectronics Division from 1995 TO 2002. Mr. Swanson holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and has an MBA from MIT.

Stephen K. Workman currently serves as Finisar's Senior Vice President, Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary since September 2002. Mr. Workman previously served as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer from March 1999 to August 2002 and as our Secretary since August 1999. From November 1989 to March 1999 he served as Chief Financial Officer at Ortel Corporation. Mr. Workman holds a B.S. in Engineering Science and an M.S. in Industrial Administration from Purdue University.

Joseph Young is currently senior vice president, general manager of the Optics group. Mr. Young joined the company in 2004 as Finisar's senior vice president, operations. Before joining the Finisar team, Mr. Young was employed by Intel where he was responsible for the Enterprise Optics business unit. Prior to Intel, Mr. Young was vice president of operations at LightLogic and Lexar Media and, in his last position at Tyco/Raychem, served as director of worldwide operations for the OEM electronics division of Raychem Corporation. Mr. Young has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a M.S. in Operations Research from the University of New Haven, and a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Chris Crespi joined the Finisar Board of Directors in 2008 in conjunction with the merger of Optium Corporation, where he served as a director since November 2005, and Finisar Corporation. Mr. Crespi is co-founder and president of Pacific Realm, LLC, a small investment fund which invests in private growth companies and equity funds. Mr. Crespi worked as managing director of Banc of America Securities LLC from November 1999 until his retirement in January 2004. Mr. Crespi holds a B.S.E.E. from University of California at Davis and an M.B.A. from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Roger C. Ferguson has been a member of our Board of Directors since August 1999. Mr. Ferguson has served as Chief Executive Officer of Semio Inc., an early stage software company, since July 1999 and as a principal in VenCraft, LLC, a venture capital partnership, since July 1997. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Ferguson was Chief Executive Officer of DataTools, Inc., a database software company. From 1987 to 1993, Mr. Ferguson served as Chief Operating Officer for Network General Inc., a network analysis company. Mr. Ferguson also serves on the Boards of Directors of Microtest, Inc. and several other private companies. Mr. Ferguson holds a B.A. in Psychology from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth.

David Fries joined the Finisar Board of Directors in June 2005. Mr. Fries is Managing Director, Co-Head, Semiconductor & Components Practice at VantagePoint . He has more than 35 years of operations, advanced technology, and investment experience. Mr. Fries has been a senior-level venture capitalist for more than 20 years. He began his career at General Electric, serving 17 years in numerous executive roles in engineering, manufacturing, senior management, and finance. He directed GE Venture Capital?s California operations, which later became the venture capital firm Canaan Partners and, in his last role, was President of General Electric Ceramics, a wholly owned subsidiary. Mr. Fries is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University (BS) and Case Western Reserve University (PhD in Physical Chemistry).

Larry D. Mitchell has been a member of our Board of Directors since October 1999. Mr. Mitchell retired from Hewlett Packard in October 1997. From 1983 to October 1997 he held several General Manager positions for Hewlett Packard in Roseville, CA. Mr. Mitchell holds a B.A. in Engineering Science from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Tom Pardun joined the Finisar Board of Directors in December 2009. Mr. Pardun is currently Chairman of Western Digital Corporation, one of the world's largest manufacturers of hard-disk drives for the personal computer and home entertainment markets. He has served in this capacity from January 2000 until January 2002 and again since April 2007. He worked for 8 years in various positions at MediaOne and its predecessor company U S West, with the most recent being President of MediaOne International Asia-Pacific before retiring in July of 2000. Prior to U S West, he was President of the Central Group for Sprint. Previously, Mr. Pardun held a variety of management positions during a 19-year tenure with IBM, concluding as Director of Product Line Evaluation at IBM's New York marketing headquarters. Mr. Pardun is a graduate of the University of Iowa.

Robert N. Stephens joined the Finisar Board of Directors in August 2005. Mr. Stephens is the former Chief Executive Officer and President of Adaptec, Inc., a storage solutions provider. Before joining Adaptec, Mr. Stephens was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Power I/O, a company that developed serial interface solutions and silicon expertise for high-speed data networking. Mr. Stephens has also served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Emulex Corporation, which designs, develops, and supplies Fibre Channel host bus adapters and held the position of Senior Vice President, General Manger, and Founder of the Microcomputer Products Group at Western Digital Corporation. He began his career at IBM, where he served over 15 years in a variety of management positions. Mr. Stephens holds bachelor's and master's degrees from San Jose State University.

Dominique Trempont joined the Finisar Board of Directors in August 2005. Mr. Trempont is the Chief Executive Officer in residence at Battery Ventures. Prior to joining Battery Ventures, Mr. Trempont was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kanisa, Inc., a software company focused on enterprise self-service applications. Mr. Trempont has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Gemplus Corporation, a smart card company, and Chief Financial Officer and later Chief Operating Officer at NeXT Software. Mr. Trempont began his career at Raychem Corporation, a high-tech material science company focused on telecommunication, electronics, automotive and other industries. Mr. Trempont received an undergraduate degree in Economics from College Saint Louis (Belgium), a bachelor's in Business Administration and Computer Sciences from the University of Louvain (Belgium) and a master's in Business Administration from INSEAD.
